Application Process

Prepare to Apply
Applying to JVC is a multi-step process. Use this handy timeline to prepare your application packet.
August – November
- Review the website and read as much as you can about the program.
- Look at the recruiting calendar to see when a recruiter will be visiting your area.
September – November
- Speak with one of the recruiters.
- It can be helpful to talk to a person who has completed the JVC program. You might have specific questions that he or she can answer for you.
November – December
- Plan how you will collect all of the materials required for the application.
- Request an official copy of your college or university transcript, to be sent directly to JVC.
- Distribute reference forms to each of your four contacts and remind them on the submission deadline.
- Set an appointment with your doctor for an examination so that your medical clearance form can be submitted before the deadline.
December – March
- Thoughtfully write your JVC essays.
- Make sure your resume is up-to-date.
- Follow-up with your four references about your letters of recommendation.
- Complete the health and wellness history form, which gets sent directly to JVC.
- Finalize your online application.
Domestic Program Only applications will be accepted in two rounds:
ROUND ONE applications must be postmarked by January 18, 2012.
ROUND TWO applications must be postmarked by March 10, 2012.
International Program Only applications must be postmarked by January 18, 2012 and the placement process will be complete by early April.
Discernment weekends for International applicants are March 9 - 11, 2012 in Washington, D.C., and Chicago, Illinois, or March 16 - 18, 2012 in Washington, D.C., and Santa Clara, California. In preparation for a discernment weekend, please review the International JV Handbook.

Application Steps
Before the deadline
- Before the deadline, create a username and password on JVC's website.
- Request your transcripts from your college or university. They should be mailed directly to JVC.
- Talk to your four references. Provide them with details about the reference forms.
- Complete the main application form online.
- Contact your four references to be sure they received an email with the links to their reference form.
- Make an appointment with a healthcare provider who can complete your medical clearance form.
- Write and upload your resume online.
- Make sure everything is uploaded or postmarked on or before the deadline.
