Fun Fact: Has done the luge!
Where did you go to college and how did the experience shape you?
Ball State University, a state school in Indiana, where I obtained a Bachelor of Social Work. It was a formative time and led me to think of taking an alternate path after college (no one I knew had ever participated in a full-time volunteer program!)
What do you like to do in your free time and why do you enjoy doing it?
I love baking for family and friends. I enjoy the act of creating something tasty, and the pleasure it brings to others’ taste buds.
Who is your role model and why?
Pope Francis is a wonderful model of living the Gospel. I appreciate his desire to promote mercy for all, as well as the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching.
What makes you laugh?
I enjoy cleverly-written parodies of just about anything.
What social justice issue are you most passionate about?
The rights of immigrants and refugees.
What do you wish other people knew about JVC?
JVC is more than an excuse to take a year “off” or a gap year. It is more than a way to pad a resume for graduate school. It is a transformative experience that can influence your life’s path and impact choices you make for the rest of your life.
