Bethan McGarry
Bethan served as a Jesuit Volunteer in Harlem, NY until August 2013. As a JV she worked in the Bronx at a non-profit social service organization called Part of the Solution (POTS) as a case manager, primarily working with clients on
benefits and housing issues. Bethan graduated from Georgetown University in 2012 with a major in Culture and Politics. She grew up in the greater Boston area.
While at Georgetown, Bethan was an RA, and in this capacity enjoyed finding ways to combine her love of meeting new people with a passion for service. She coordinated a program called Friday Food, bringing bagged dinner and conversation to low-income DC residents every week. Bethan was grateful for the opportunity to live in solidarity with some of the friends she made in both DC and New York City during her time as a JV.
Bethan enjoys mystery novels, socially conscious food, roof-tops, and spontaneous dance parties. Contact her at recruiting@jesuitvolunteers.org or 443-610-5042 to ask questions about JVC or set up an appointment.
