Ben DeGarmo is the current JVC Program Coordinator working with Chicago, Milwaukee, the Twin Cities, and Kansas City. Ben is in his third year with JVC, having previously worked with the St. Louis and Camden communities as well. As part of the Program Team, Ben works on preparing and facilitating regional retreats, maintaining in city relations, and JV Support.
Prior to coming to JVC Ben worked in residential treatment in Grand Rapids, MI. While there, he provided direct care working with children ages seven to eleven who were victims of various degrees of abuse and neglect. Additionally, Ben has volunteered with the Diocese of Lansing’s Youth Ministry programs to foster leadership in high school youth.
Ben graduated from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI, with degrees in both Theology and Creative Writing. While there, Ben focused his Theology degree around Youth Ministry certifications and faith based story telling with a lens on C.S. Lewis and his works. In his free time Ben is about all things DC Comics, seeing movies around Academy Awards season, and competitive Pokemon Trading Card Game. Ben lives in Detroit with his wife Monica and loves to host anyone coming into town!
