Beth Pawuk is a Program Coordinator, responsible for working with Detroit volunteers, managing the AmeriCorps program, and the Additional Year Volunteer program. She is an FJV, having served as a JV in the 1998-1999 program year. During her JVC year, Beth was placed in Houston, TX, at Communities In Schools.
Beth has experience working with domestic and international non-profit organizations. Prior to her time on the JVC staff, she worked with an NGO in Guatemala, Central America, whose mission was to empower children, living around the Guatemala City Garbage Dump, to access education. In the United States, Beth also worked with adults who have cognitive disabilities.
Beth studied social work for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana for her undergraduate degree and completed her Master’s degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She has a variety of interests and is happy to share her experience about doing the luge with anyone who asks! She also particularly enjoys baking and spending quality time with her husband and daughter.
